Al Fresco With Fido - Guest Blogger, Author Margaret Littman

When I began working on the first edition of my The Dog Lover’s Companion to Chicago book, back in 2003, the idea of a dog-friendly bar was still considered a bit odd. There were plenty to fill the book, but they were the exceptions, rather than the rule.

Today there’s a dog-friendly everything. In fact, I just heard about an ice cream truck for dogs in the U.K. But the dog-friendly bar still beats them all as a summer must-have. There’s nothing like sitting on the patio under a summer Chicago sky with your best friends, canine and human. Grab the leash and check out a few of these Windy City dog-friendly favorites.
