Dogs Deserve Better

The 6th annual DDB Chain Off Event is being held this Saturday, June 28. Dog advocates will live chained to doghouses for 24 hours, starting at 11:15am, and they will have exhibitors, sponsors, booths, and other events.

Kids In Deerfield Doing Outstanding Service is hosting its fourth annual talent show, art fair, and silent auction on Thursday, June 19th. Proceeds from the event will go to purchase a special needs bicycle and to the Children’s Cancer Research Fund.

Lake Forest Open Lands Association

The fifth annual Dog Day is taking place this year on June 7th at Deerpath Middle School. Humans and their four-legged friends will participate in fun competitions, such as “Best Look-a-Like Owner”, “50 Yard Dash” and Best Costume.”

I just got back from a weekend retreat with my family. The retreat took place in a lovely summer-camp type setting. On Saturday night a handful of us baby-boomers stayed up late playing guitars and singing. As several of us crammed ourselves as close as we could around a music stand, being  careful not to bang our guitars into one another while squinting at the music book I realized a great business opportunity: Hits of the Sixties music books- in LARGE TYPE.

This fine arts magnet school is hosting its first ever silent auction at Mrs. Murphy & Son’s Irish Bistro on Saturday the 31st. Proceeds from the event and auction will support Spanish language classes and an after school sports program.
