Can I get a picture for my website/Facebook page?
Yes. Your sitting includes one, complimentary, screen-resolution file for use on your
personal website, blog, and social networking sites.
Additional files are available for $50 each, or 6 for $250. All images will include a
tasteful, Sutton Studios watermark.
Can I purchase high-res files and make my own prints?
No, and here's why. Sutton Studios employs traditional, service-oriented portrait studio practices, with
the expectation that we will send our clients home with fine-art-quality prints to
enjoy for years to come.
The Sutton Studios brand is based on a particular look, which we strive diligently to
preserve. We consider every Sutton Studios print "out in the world" an ambassador
for our studio. Every print that leaves here has therefore been personally inspected
and approved by David, and every print is guaranteed by Sutton Studios.
To that end, we offer extraordinary customer service and extensive retouching
services. We use an exclusive photo lab that adheres to exacting processing
standards and uses only the finest Kodak Endura papers. In addition, we archive and
manage your images in perpetuity.
We don't, however, sell high-res digital files for others to print.
But I got all the files from my wedding. . .
Wedding photographers customarily charge very high session fees up front, as part
of a complete package that may include delivery of the digital image files (so clients
can reproduce inexpensive copies for all the friends and relatives who want a picture
of the bride and groom).
Sutton Studios, by contrast, charges relatively little for sittings, which places the
burden on David to create compelling images that we hope our clients will find
irresistible. Clients are under no obligation to buy any prints. When they do, they
know they will be getting a final product produced to exacting standards, handled
every step of the way by professionals, and to which David is proud to add his
signature.
Can I have my proofs?
Sorry. Our lab proofs are neither retouched nor fine-tuned to our exacting
specifications. They also experience a great deal of handling which undermines their
stability. They are intended only as a jumping-off point to determine clients' needs
and help them plan their displays and albums, but they do not leave the studio.
How long will I be at the studio?
Plan on spending 30-60 minutes with us on the day of your portrait sitting.
Do I have to be in the pictures?
You don't have to be, but why not give it a try? Remember, you're free to chose whichever images you love and leave the rest behind.
What should I wear?
We suggest clothes that you feel comfortable and confident in. Solid colors work well. Jeans and textured clothing add warmth to the pictures. Please avoid clothes with logos, trademarks or bold patterns. Pay attention to your shoes (and your children's) as your feet will probably be in most of the photos. Great big white basketball shoes, for example, can be distracting.
My dog is aggressive. Will there be other dogs there?
We schedule portrait sessions with plenty of time in between so that animals that don't know each other do not meet. We therefore ask that you arrive on time and not early for your appointment. Please make us aware of any aggression issues your animal may have so that we can be sensitive to those concerns.
My dog is nervous/afraid of flash/won't sit still/not trained/etc., will that be a problem?
Few (if any) of our clients' animals are professionally trained. David has over 14 years of experience and he's woked with more than 5,000 dogs of many breeds. He has acquired effective techniques for working with various animal personalities, the most useful of which is having the patience of a saint. Some dogs have special needs, some have fears of being in a new place with a light that keeps flashing. David meets with you and your dog in our reception area before the photo session. He'll greet your dog and talk with you to create a reassuring atmosphere for you both. Once everyone is acquainted he will walk you into the studio to begin your sitting.
Should I get my dog groomed?
Grooming is a personal decision - you know how your dog will look his or her best - but please bathe your dog a day or two before your sitting. If you will be having your dog groomed, we recommend you also have that done a day or two before the sitting rather than on the same day as your sitting. A grooming and a portrait sitting on the same day can be a lot of stress for many dogs.
What if I have to reschedule?
Should you need to reschedule, we ask for one week's notice prior to your scheduled portrait appointment. A $50 rescheduling fee will be applied for reschedules with less than one week's notice.
Can you come to my house and take pictures?
Most of our portraits sittings take place in the studio where we have optimum control over lighting, setting and distractions. We can come to you, if you prefer. Our location sitting fee is $1,800.
When will my finished prints be ready?
Your finished prints will be ready 4 to 6 weeks after your print order consultation. However, our production cycle is compressed in November and December to accommodate holiday cards and gifts.
Do you offer framing?
We do not offer framing in-house but we have close relationships with some framers that have worked with our clients for years, and we will provide you with all their information.
Do you offer custom greeting cards?
We offer 5x7 and 5x5 folding greeting cards that include the photo/s of your choice and custom printed text. We include envelopes. Our custom cards come in sets of 25, and are priced at $120/set. To see our card oferings, click here.
